Download and install the CDF Player: If the lastest version of the Wolfram Mathematica Computable Document Format or CDF player is not already installed on your computer, CLICK HERE to download the CDF Player installation file, install it, and then configure your computer to open "*.CDF" files by defalut with the Player. For example, the image shows how to select the default app setting in Windows 10.
Download and open the CDF activity file: Download the following CDF activity file into a folder you can easily find - [Concept Map] Amino Acids Single Letter v3-timer.cdf - and then open it with the stand-alone CDF Player. Match the standard AAs to their one-letter abbreviations: Start the activity by first starting the TIMER by CLICKING on the black right arrow button on the upper left. Then, as quickly you can, use the mouse pointer to drag one or more of the letters of the alphabet on the left into the white squares next to standard AAs listed in random order order on the right. |

Activity assessment: After all 20 of the white boxes are populated with letters, pause the TIMER by CLICKING on the pause button (||) and note the elapsed time. Check your matches by CLICKING on the 'Check Answers' button. As illustrated in the static screen capture below, the font colors change from black to green when letters correctly match the one-letter abbreviations of standard AAs, but font colors change from black to red when the letters are incorrectly matched. |

Continue or restart: With the timer stopped or restarted (CLICK the black right arrow to reset the timer to "0" min), you can can continue shuffling letters in and out of the boxes and rechecking new matches whenever all of the white boxes are populated. You can also CLICK the 'Reset' button to start the exercise anew, but starting with a different randomized order of AAs listed. |
